Ruby Tuesday Gluten Free Menu: 98 Items Ranked by Taste (Top 3 Items)

Gluten Free Diet | Written by Nathan Petitpas | Updated on 25 July 2024

A sandwich placed on a napkin, featuring shaved beef, grilled peppers, cheddar queso, pico de gallo, and onions, resembling the fiesta cheesesteak.

The Ruby Tuesday gluten free menu has been retired, but luckily the restaurant still offers all of the same accommodations for gluten-free diets that it used to, it just doesn’t officially claim that the foods are gluten free and more importantly, their interactive menu makes it difficult to see all GF options at a glance.1

Therefore, we compiled all 98 or Ruby Tuesday gluten free food items to make ordering a breeze and we even list the top 3 items for anyone with non-celiac gluten sensitivity or celiac disease that are having a hard time picking a meal.2,3

Does Ruby Tuesday Have Gluten Free Options?

There are many foods at Ruby Tuesday that should be gluten free. However, if an employee handles a food with gluten, they’ll add traces of gluten to food they handle afterward. This is a type of cross contamination, the reason that Ruby Tuesday doesn’t officially refer to its foods as gluten free.

One of the worst examples of gluten cross contamination is fries in a shared fryer.5 If a cook prepares a small, 5.5 ounce order of fries in a fryer that they used for a breaded food earlier, there’s a 25% chance that that tiny order of fries will have more than 12mg of gluten.

This is already pushing the tolerable threshold of 10mg-50mg of gluten that won’t harm a celiac. It’s also the reason why Whataburger fries are not gluten free.

Eating out with a gluten intolerance or with celiac disease is a matter of risk management.

Since their bodies struggle to process gluten, it can stay in the body for some time. It’s more risky to eat out at a restaurant with risks of gluten contamination every day than it is to indulge less frequently.

Plus, the Ruby Tuesday kitchen staff will take special measures just to reduce the risk of gluten contamination if they know they’re preparing a dish for a gluten intolerant person.

Asking for accommodation, sticking to the gluten free menu of Ruby Tuesday, and eating out in moderation are common ways that people attempt to keep their gluten intake within safe bounds.

These rules also apply to eating gluten free at other chains, such as:

Does The Ruby Tuesday GF Menu Include Burgers? What About Fries?

One of the qualities that makes Ruby Tuesday stand out is that it has an official policy where all locations will make burgers with a lettuce wrap to avoid gluten contamination. On top of that, most locations have gluten free buns.

So Ruby Tuesday burgers may be gluten free as long as a customer asks for a lettuce wrap or gluten-free bun.6

However, the gluten free menu at Ruby Tuesdays does not include fries or any other fried items. All locations use shared fryers, which results in high levels of gluten contamination for any fried foods.

The Ruby Tuesday Gluten Free Menu

This gluten free menu includes all of the foods that shouldn’t have considerable traces of gluten. First, they’re ranked by categories of food such as burgers, salads, and drinks. Within these categories, the best-tasting items hold the first spot.

There’s no dessert category, as the only dessert item that made it onto the gluten free menu at Ruby Tuesday is the sundae on the kids’ menu. “Calories” refers to kcal, while “fat”, “carbs”, and “protein” refer to the number of grams of that macronutrient.

How To Make Sure Your Order is GF at Ruby Tuesdays

The best way to ensure your order is gluten free at Ruby Tuesdays is by sticking the gluten free menu above. Furthermore, if you are looking to get something fried, avoid it entirely since they use shared fryers at Ruby Tuesdays and this can cause cross contamination.

Speaking of cross contamination, always be sure to explicitly tell the staff and a manager that you have a gluten intolerance or Celiac disease to be sure they take the matter seriously.

Top Three Gluten Free Orders at Ruby Tuesdays

Ruby Tuesday’s has an impressive lineup of gluten free options, and three of the most popular options are the triple prime cheddar bacon burger, the petite sirloin steak, and the avocado turkey burger.

Not only are they each delicious, but they have little to no gluten assuming the staff prepare them with proper accommodations and careful food handling.

Here are three sample gluten free orders that built around these popular items:

Ruby Tuesdays Gluten Free Order No. 1: For the meat lovers, order a Triple Prime Cheddar Bacon Burger on a gluten free bun, hold the fries, with freshly made strawberry lemonade and a baked potato on the side. This is both filling and delicious.

Ruby Tuesdays Gluten Free Order No. 2: For the calorie-conscious, order a Petite sirloin steak with grilled chicken salad, balsamic vinaigrette dressing and mango handcrafted fruit tea. You won’t be disappointed.

Ruby Tuesdays Gluten Free Order No. 3: For gluten-free keto, order a Lettuce wrapped turkey avocado burger, hold the fries, with steamed broccoli on the side. This is a low-carb treat for anyone worried about being kicked out of ketosis.

Few restaurants do as much as Ruby Tuesday when it comes to accommodating the gluten intolerant and the Ruby Tuesday gluten free menu is so broad that the top three best-tasting items only scratch the surface.
